Sins of a Solar Empire

Sins

I’ll get right down to it. This game is taking over my life. I only started really playing last night. I accidentally got into a game that lasted 3+ hours. It was only supposed to last 45 minutes, as LyKaios had to leave. It turned into Helmer and I being attacked and harassed by the computer for another 3 hours. This wasn’t what I expected. Since playing it last night all I have done is think about this game. It’s an RTS, so it’s got all the building and farming and research that any RTS had. With Sins though, they don’t tell you much of anything when you start. You have to figure it all out on your own. This means being thrown into a 3 hour+ game with 2 AI opponents and while trying to fend off them, also trying to figure out if I research X thing, I can build Y thing later, right? I was and still am so confused but the level of depth in this game keeps me thinking about it. You can only build a few different buildings and ships, much less than any other modern RTS, but you can research almost 100 different upgrades and abilities, making it very daunting when you first start.

Anyway, that was my long rant. This game is really great so far, if you have some good people to play with and 3-6 hours to waste. If you have it, let me know, lets play a game. If you love RTS games, you should pick it up.

I give it a 3.5 out of 5.
Rating: ★★★½☆

Virtual Console Wishlist by Game Informer

Sure I don’t have a Wii myself, but my friends do! And in due time I too will get one, after my year limit is reached and I feel like there is enough software to make the purchase worth it (Okay so I really just don’t have the money). Well there is still one thing that I can do, look at what is to come and dream of things that I want on the Wii. Game Informer has a wishlist of VC games that they want, and if anything it brings back some good memories of great games from days gone by. A few notable ones from the list: Chrono Trigger, Lost Vikings, Secret of Evermore, Pilot Wings 64, RC Pro Am, STAR FOX, Super Mario All-Stars, Tecmo Super Bowl, Uniracers and Zombies Ate My Neighbors. This was just a quick screening of games on the list. Read it and then hit back here for some discussions.
