Who would have thought?

June 30th, 2008 by Rob

Who would have thought that I would miss New England so much? I think this is the first time in my life that I am homesick. Not to the point that I am not having a good time here-the work is still good and the people here are still all cool- there are just things in New England that I miss. Being able to watch the Red Sox on tv everyday, going to Sea Dogs games and being able to see friends. Also, I didn’t pack very well when I came down here, I really only packed for a week.

I like it here, I like the lifestyle and I like the work. But I feel that something is missing. I am going to enjoy my last month here, but I am also looking ahead to spending a month or so in New England seeing people and doing some hiking.

I realized last night that working the peninsula is therapeutic. Riding a 6 mile stretch of beach, rocking out to music on my Zune, and no one around. Finding a turtle is an excellent break in the monotony of riding the quad.

I saw my first green turtle last night. Very different than the boring old loggerhead. First their carapace is considerably bigger than the loggerhead while their head is tiny. The first thing that came to mind when seeing the mini head was the goombas from the Super Mario Brothers movie.

It’s that time again.

its-that-time-again

Hello again. I feel like I have been neglecting this blog-o-mine. I started another a while ago, just dealing with how I want to lose weight. I have been avoiding that one as well, so don’t feel bad.

Since the last time we talked I have finished my course-work at Colby-Sawyer College and I am currently at my internship in Port Saint Joe, Florida. It’s late/early so I wont go into it now. But soon, perhaps tomorrow.

After tomorrow I will maybe talk about some other stuff going on. Perhaps I’ll be reflective.

I love all these pictures of cats doing funny things with even funnier captions that have been popping up all over the net. You seriously need to see some of these. I have put a bunch of funny ones into a flickr album, check it out here. I’ll post a few here to get you started.

Spring Break

March 11th, 2007 by Jason

spring-break

Well I’m on my last official spring break ever.  Kind of bittersweet.  I have never really done anything for break, I might go to Boston or day trips but never really went anywhere exotic like some.  This week I will mostly sit at home, I might go back into Boston, probably do some shopping, but per usual I won’t do anything crazy.

I’ll probably make a few more posts this week, got not much else to do.  Rob won’t be, he’s in Nebraska and then Oregon for the week, lucky him.  If you want more updates check out my Twitter posts http://twitter.com/BoredMind or on the right side of this page.  If you’ve never seen that site before, kind of fun to use and check out.

Anyway, I’m out of things to say for now, I’m going back to playing G.R.A.W. and waiting to go pick up my step mom at the airport.

Have a great break!

Digg doesn’t digg us.

February 21st, 2007 by Rob

digg-doesnt-digg-us

I get back to class after watching two documentaries about child prostitution in Asia and I find out that digg has blocked my account as well as Jason’s. Apparently the digg activity on campus has made them suspect us (and presumably everyone else on campus) of spamming the site and messing with the way it works. It is understandable and I appreciate their efforts to reduce such evil tactics, but we are innocent. Where else am I going to be able to annoy people with comments such as “pics or it didnt happen” “but will it blend” “1. (insert subject of article) 2. ???? 3. Profit!” and the new favorite “that is not a hair question.” Ok so maybe the last part hasn’t made it to the forefront of digg comments but still, I suspect it will soon. Then the 1/31/07 ATHF terrorists will have won!

In other news: Penny Arcade’s Gabe recently commented on a brutal crime committed by some crazy kids, they said killing the bum reminded them of playing video games. Gabe went on to talk about how it is the parents responsibilty to teach their children four basic things: 1: Don’t drink alcohol before 21. 2: Don’t do drugs. 3: Don’t murder people and 4: Don’t take shit out of your butt and rub it on the hobo you just murdered. This call to parents to start parenting and stop laying blame on video games caught the attention of a woman who was the step mother of one of the children that did this. She wrote Gabe telling him that in this case parenting nor video games were the reason the kid did what he did… he is just bat shit insane. Not her words but a pretty good paraphase I think. Read her email, it is shocking what this little fuck got away before killing a man.

In other news I started playing this game that maybe some of you have heard of it’s called Dungeons and Dragons. Yeah it’s pretty obscure. I am involved in two campaigns right now, one with a half-elf paladin and the other with a half-orc monk. Like the Jinx shirt says “lawful good is lawful great.” The half-orc isn’t lawful good though.

Time to finish my work for the night. Until next time.
