Bored

June 12th, 2007 by Rob

bored

Because I don’t start work for another week and half (real work not the 5 hours a week in the student development office) I have been watching a lot of tv. Right now I am watching UFC on Spike TV, apparently I like tv for men. I remember watching UFC tapes from the early 90s when I would go with my parents to the video store. That was before the rules and they would have two opposing styles go toe to toe and just destroy each other. Now it seems like a contest to who can get the other person on the floor first to make them tap out, pretty homo-erotic. But still its fun to watch. The willingness of two men to stand in a ring and forget about their own body while trying to destroy the opponent’s is incredible.
But I have to wonder… how would people that are near masters of a certain martial art do in these competitions? Men that can hit with the force of a car crash. Are the people that fight in “the octagon” that powerful? And do they know enough of any one martial art to actually do a lot of damage? Or does my understanding of martial arts come solely from movies? Either way it is fun to watch.

Also Papelbon is insane.

Shakespeare and cats!

April 1st, 2007 by Jason

shakespeare-and-cats

Last night was the finally performance of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” here at CSC. Rob and I were both part of the cast, I playing Theseus, Duke of Athens, and Rob as Oberon, king of the fairies. Rob and I gave almost every night for the past two months to the play and last night it all came together and was done. It is sad, it was the first play I was in here at CSC, and unfortunately my last. I had so much fun, I wish I had started this acting thing so much earlier in my college career, it is, simply put, a blast. I will never be able to write here so much fun I had, so excited I was each night nor be able to express the feeling I get when I deliver a line and the audience delivers it back with applause or laughter. Ok I know this whole thing is sounding sappy, so I will stop here. If you didn’t see the play, you missed out, you really did.

On another note, I had added more pictures to the “Cats” album on Flickr. I have come across some new really funny pictures. Keep checking the Flickr page or here for updates when I add more, the newest ones will show up first in the list. Click on the picture below to get to the album.

On one last note, I am still posting on Twitter very often, again you can see it on the right side of the page, or you can subscribe to my Twitter RSS feed or you can subscribe to Twitter from the main page and get updates via text message or AIM. Check it out!

Shopping and more Twitter

March 12th, 2007 by Jason

shopping-and-more-twitter

I’m off to go shopping today in Manchester, hopefully get a new jacket. Although I hear spring is on the way, better be! It’s almost 50 here today, that’s about 70 degrees warmer than it was up at school last week, I’m sick of winter.

I’ve been becoming more and more addicted to twitter since break started, it takes over! I post, I read other posts, I troll the site, it’s so much fun. I suggest checking it out www.Twitter.com, it allows you to post about what you are doing, thinking, listening to, whatever and it’s easy. Do it from the site or from AIM or your phone. Use it for good though!

Anyway, off to shower and then to shopping. YAY!!

Sigma Beta Delta

February 28th, 2007 by Jason

sigma-beta-delta

If you were around me yesterday, I’m sure you are sick of hearing this, but……

On February 27th 2007 I, Jason Kelly, was accepted into Sigma Beta Delta! This is an international honor society for business, management and administration. I am one of only a very few number of Colby-Sawyer Students who are in the honor society. To even be eligible I must be in the top 20% of the entire business school, be nominated by another member who must be a school facility member, convey academic excellence and a commitment to high principles and superior lifetime achievement. This is the highest honor a student of business and hope to achieve.

Needless to say, I am currently the happiest boy on earth. I had heard rumor about me getting this, but didn’t believe it until I got the letter yesterday. This is awesome! I know I’m gloating, and probably being annoying about it, but I don’t care, I am so happy I want to tell the whole world, so deal with it!

Why wear suits?

January 17th, 2007 by Jason

why-wear-suits

Latest entry by Mark Cuban on his blog, about why we don’t need suits and why he refuses to wear a suit. I guess if you have as much money and power and awesomeness as he does, you get to make the rules.

Why am I such a suit hater ? I’m not a suit hater, I just could never think of any good reason for any sane person to wear a suit in the first place.

Exactly what purpose does a suit serve ? Why in the world are so many people required to wear a suit to work ? Do the clothes make the man or woman in the western world today ? Does wearing a tie make us work harder or smarter ? Is this a conspiracy by the clothing, fabric or dry cleaning industry to take our money ?

Or are we all just lemmings following a standard we all know makes zero sense, but we follow because we are afraid not to ?

I’m trying to get all this junk working. All the old posts should be here, I hope, they aren’t in order really, but they are all there for search purposes I guess. I’m still working.
