Jaiku

I have been using Twitter for a while, but have since found a new service, Jaiku. Not sure if I will switch, it has some great features, but is missing some key things, like a good API, good apps for it and IM/Jabber support. If they add all those things I might look to switch. Either way keep an eye out for it, or am I the only one that cares about this kind of stuff?

I care!
All the features you list as missing are coming “real soon”, in addition to a few surprises. See you at Jaiku!

Thanks Petteri! I knew you guys would keep developing it. Listening to the community is what drives these kinds of services and you guys have done a great job of it so far.
Keep up the great work, I do love the site! It is just hard to switch to something new when I am so set in my ways in something so similar. I have introduced so many people to Twitter and I feel bad abandoning it and them, as hard as it is to get me to switch, it’s harder to get less savvy people to switch.
I’ll be sticking with Jaiku, whether I switch or not. I love to watch the development of well thought out sites, and I will enjoy watching you guys grow! And of course, if any help can be given, let me know!

Good to hear!
Quite a few people add their Twitter feed to Jaiku’s lifestream and keep connected with their Twitter friends this way. (When something interesting happens in Twitter, they can react to that.)
In general, there is still roughly five billion people who are not in either Jaiku or Twitter, so instead of focusing too much on getting people to switch services we need to attract those poor souls
