New site?

December 25th, 2006 by Jason

new-site

I’m trying to get all this junk working. All the old posts should be here, I hope, they aren’t in order really, but they are all there for search purposes I guess. I’m still working.

New site will go live shortly, hopefully this weekend. All I have to do is work on moving my old site to a new subdomain and I should be good to go!

Hello and welcome to Bored Mind! As you can see things have changed a bit around here, Jason has done an amazing job re-coding the site. He asked for some artistic help from Adrian and Chris HP. Meanwhile, I’ve been sitting around annoying the piss out of Jason with ideas, and what I thought were funny jokes-unfortunately I was wrong. So I would like to say thank you to Jason, Adrian and Chris!

I am not sure why Jason has decided to take me under his wing and let me put my nickels worth in on this site but I am very appreciative. Now that I am here I’m going to try to make the best of it. Eventually I hope to create sights and sounds for you all, but for now I will just stick with writing. Hopefully that should inspire you all to join the boards and be active on this little piece of the internets we like to call Bored Mind.

"Slicker than the grease from a BBQ Briskit

Got more chunk than a fresh potato salad"

Well, the new site is up and I think it looks pretty spiffy. I spent a lot of time on it, so you should spend a lot of time looking at it and contributing to it via comments and forum postings. Smile

It’s been really nice out lately here, it seems the whole school has spring fever, the quads are all packed with people during the day doing "outdoor" things, it’s great to see. I sure did miss warm weather.

So welcome to the site, enjoy your stay and please keep coming back. If there is anything you want to see on the site let us know! Click here to make a suggestion, we want to hear it!

College nights

So, think all college students do is homework, or maybe party and drink and the like. I am here to tell you that is simply not true. Last night Charlie, n00b, Pat, Angela, Ashley and I spent many hours playing Mario Kart Double Dash for GameCube. Needless to say it was a blast, and to prove it, download and watch this video of the mayhem as it’s happening!! If anyone would like to join us in this amazingness at anytime, let us know, we love to play games, all of us.

Watch video here!

*Edit*

Is that movie working for people or are they only getting sound? Let me know, make a comment.

April Fooled

So I’m not one to really keep track of what day it is, and I barely ever keep track of the date. That is why I fell victim to an amazing prank today, the day before April 1st.

I was doing my usual circuit of morning sites and I passed by ThinkGeek. There I see an item that looks very familiar to me. A green pipe jumped out of the page at me and in that pipe sat a mushroom with a green cap and white spots, on the stalk of this ‘shroom there were two black spots that looked like eyes. On the front of the pipe it simply says “1up.”

“No way” I say to myself and I quickly click on the picture. There it is, like every other item that has ever been put on ThinkGeek it had a full description. The little guys come from Kyoto, and it only takes 2 weeks to get them to grow. The jokes were there too—they grant eternal life when eaten; but caution “do not put in face.” At this point I am in need of a fresh set of undies because I can not believe that something this cool has ever been discovered. Being a biologist this is like my two separate lives coming together and having the coolest child in the world. This is like Jason’s love for horseback riding and man-on-man intercourse coming together in the form of a movie. This is having my cake and eating it too. I quickly send Jason the URL. He shits his pants too, decides that he wants to buy one as well. While he is looking it over I decide to email a professor of mine that got a PhD studying mushrooms, to show her a species from the Mushroom Kingdom. After I send the email I get a message from Jason trying to stop me from sending the email, I think he’s a fool and go back to the listing. I add it to my cart. And then the most shocking news gets shoved into my face: “HAHA, Gotcha. April fool’s (early) you silly monkey.” At first I don’t understand and I’m pissed that they wont let me order—then I look at a calendar. Disappointment sweeps over me, followed by laughter. Touché ThinkGeek, you got me good!

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

So I just finished it last night and I have changed my mind about the game, I only recommend it if you want to know the story before the third game. WW isn’t really that great of a game, infact it’s pretty frustrating and redundant. Most of the game is fighting stupid foes over and over all of whom take many many hits to kill, and then dieing by the hand of a stupid minion seconds from a water fountain. The ending is pretty lame, it is almost like they made the game in a weekend and tried only to fill in a small hole in story and plot between the first and thrid PoP games. Anyways, the game wasn’t really that great looking back, so you decide for yourself, but I don’t recomment buying it unless you rent it first.
